🍰 About Lucy Bass
Hi, I’m Lucy Bass, the sweet tooth behind Dessert Recipester.
I’ve always believed that dessert isn’t just the “last course” — it’s the memory maker. From whipping up chocolate chip cookies after school to learning how to nail the perfect caramel drizzle without burning it (took me years, trust me 🙈), my kitchen has always been the heart of my stories.
Here on the blog, you’ll find recipes that are approachable and tested — the kind you can pull off on a Tuesday night when the craving hits, but also the ones you’ll proudly bring out for holidays and celebrations. I’m not about fussy instructions or intimidating pastry chef vibes. If it can be explained like I’m chatting with a friend over coffee, that’s how I’ll write it.
Some days it’s gooey brownies that need only one bowl, other days it’s layer cakes stacked high with buttercream. I’ll share the shortcuts I’ve learned, the little tricks that save a recipe from flopping, and even the occasional kitchen fail (because yes, my meringue once collapsed spectacularly 😅).
One of my earliest food memories is standing on a stool in my grandma’s kitchen, dusted in flour, “helping” her roll pie dough. She always said the best desserts are the ones that taste like love — even if they look a little rustic. That’s a philosophy I still live by today. 💛
I also believe desserts should be for everyone. That’s why you’ll see recipes that range from classic American pies to no-bake treats, plus gluten-free or lighter options when I’m experimenting. Baking doesn’t need to be perfect to be worth it — it just needs to make you smile when you take that first bite.
When I’m not mixing, whisking, or photographing yet another slice of cake, you’ll probably find me wandering through a farmer’s market, hunting down seasonal fruit to turn into jams and cobblers. I’m always inspired by simple ingredients and the joy of turning them into something shareable.
At the end of the day, I want Dessert Recipester to feel like a place where you can say:
👉 “I think I can actually make that — and it’ll taste amazing.”
So grab your whisk, preheat that oven, and let’s bake something that makes life just a little sweeter. 💕
